  • 1.  Straighterline for Prerequisites

    Posted 09-28-2022 06:03 PM
    Hi Admissions Colleagues,

I am a new Interim Associate Dean supervising Admissions and it has come to my attention that an online program called Straighterline (https://www.straighterline.com/)  is being used by some of our applicants to complete their prerequisite courses. PharmCas doesn't accept these transcripts automatically as they do for regular college transcripts. Does anyone have experience with Straighterline and know anything about the rigor of these courses. Do you accept them for prerequisites? If so, do you have a limit on the number of courses that can be completed through Straighterline?  Thanks so much for your advice and help!

    Regards, KarenBeth

We ran into this last cycle. Our requirement is that all prerequisites must be completed at a college that is accredited by the respective regional accreditation body. It appeared that straighterline does not meet this requirement. For that reason, we choose to not accept their courses.

    Hi Karen,

Our school accepts prerequisite credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities. StraighterLine is an education company, not a school. It does not have regional accreditation. For this reason, we do not accept credit from them.

It appears they do have a recommendation from ACE CREDIT, and they claim that 400 colleges accept their courses for college credit. You can read more about this, including a list of the colleges that currently accept StraigherLine coursework, at this link: https://www.straighterline.com/how-it-works/credit-transfer/.

    Thanks,

    Courtney
