When:  Feb 19, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)

Hosted by the Global Education SIG

This webinar will discuss the development, implementation, and outcomes of an International Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) established by the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy in Nagasaki, Japan. Dr. Mikiko Takeda, serving as the primary preceptor, will describe the formation of an academic partnership with the Nagasaki University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the structured design of a clinical rotation, including exposure to pharmacist-led home-based pharmaceutical care. The session will conclude with a moderated discussion and question-and-answer period addressing key considerations and best practices in the development of international APPE programs.

Objectives:

  • Describe the process of developing and implementing an International APPE, including institutional partnerships and logistical considerations in a Japanese clinical setting.
  • Delineate clinical activities that support deeper, experiential learning for students following a needs assessment.
  • Apply best practices and lessons learned from this International APPE model to inform the development or enhancement of international experiential education programs at participants’ home institutions.
