Artificial Intelligence in SoTL: Opportunities for Assessment and Research

When:  Jun 11, 2026 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)

Hosted by the Council of Faculties

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming teaching and assessment in health professions education, creating new opportunities for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). This webinar will highlight how pharmacy educators identified needs in assessment and feedback processes and developed SoTL projects using AI to address them. Speakers will share examples including AI-assisted grading of OSCE performances and SOAP notes, along with the methods used to study their educational impact. Participants will gain practical ideas for designing and studying AI-driven innovations in pharmacy education

Objectives:

  • Describe how educational needs in pharmacy training can be identified and translated into AI-focused SoTL research questions.
  • Explain approaches for integrating AI into assessment activities such as OSCE performance evaluation and SOAP note grading.
  • Discuss methods for evaluating the educational impact and feasibility of AI-assisted assessment tools.
  • Identify potential opportunities to design and study AI-enabled teaching and assessment innovations within pharmacy education.
