Finding Inner Peace When Your Loved One is Permanently Bedridden

It’s not only old people who are permanently bedridden but having a loved one, whether young or old, becoming bedridden can be a massive mental and physical adjustment to you. Knowing what to expect and being prepared with a bedridden person can give you a sense of peace.

A peaceful, final resting place

Final expense insurance or burial insurance isn’t quite the same as regular life insurance as the fixed policies are smaller and, therefore, more affordable. The goal of the insurance is to ensure consumers have a convenient way to get approved for burial cover by Mutual of Omaha burial insurance which is a whole life policy.

You don’t need a medical test and your application is approved in just a few days. These whole life policies don’t expire when you turn 80 or 90. If you have any queries, you shouldn’t hesitate to be in touch with them to have any concerns answered.

These insurance products pay for the final expenses and burial costs and are perfect for anyone battling financially. The beneficiary will receive a lump sum that is tax-free.

A spiritual practice

Whatever stage you have reached in your life and whatever the circumstances, there are always some positive changes you can make. Why not have a regular spiritual practice with your bedridden loved one?

You can ask for a blessing before meals at the person’s bedside or ask for peace on difficult days. Such a spiritual time can bond you, the bedridden person and other members of the family. It doesn’t have to conform to any specific religion. What matters most is sharing your beliefs and hopes with those who share similar beliefs and value systems.

Massage for peace

Many people who are totally bedridden or who have gone into a hospice are in a vulnerable state. What they wouldn’t give for a gentle touch such as a scalp- or foot massage.

Therapeutic massage provides anyone with an opportunity to relax and feel cared for and you as the caregiver can experience your own sense of peace when you see the way the massage also helps your loved one. Massage therapy for bedridden patients doesn’t just show you care in providing it, but it can bring on a sense of peace and stability to the patient.

Gentle reflexology and scalp massage can even reduce high blood pressure and stimulate the release of endorphins and this applies to both you and the bedridden patient.

Get through the day in a calm way

You may quite possibly be stressed to the max with concern over your bedridden loved one and reached out for all kinds of culinary comforts – the wrong ones.

Lovely though it can be to indulge in comfort foods from take-away outlets, the truth is that these fat-laden diets bring on emotional upsets and even depression. Boring though it may sound, during turmoil-laden times, you need to be eating mood-boosting soul food.

Share a stress-busting smoothie with your loved one and take a vitamin B supplement to remove stress and bring on a sense of peace. You want to be calm, at peace and strong during this tumultuous time.

Make plants part of your life

Plants are a soothing natural remedy for all kinds of ailments. They inhale negative, sad vibes and exhale positive energy. Introduce a beautiful plant such as a Peace Lily into the room where the bedridden patient is, and whoever enters the room will feel the peace. After all, according to Feng Shui, the Peace Lily is a symbol of tranquility and peace.

Plants are more than capable of boosting mental health and if you grow herbs, you may even be able to make a soothing pot of herb tea and encourage the bedridden patient to sip some.
