    RE: PharmCAS Application Fees

PharmCAS application fees have been locked at the same rate ($175 base, $55 incremental for each application over the first) from the 2017-2018 cycle to the current 2021-2202 cycle for a total of five consecutive cycles to minimize the financial burden on applicants. The PharmCAS application fees will remain at the same rate in the upcoming 2022-2023 (sixth consecutive) cycle, due to the ongoing decline in PharmCAS volume and the potential financial impact of the pandemic on applicants. The PharmCAS application fees will increase in the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 cycles to offset inflation and the cost of system enhancements, as well as cover the licensing fees for the Liaison by Analytics tool, which is provided to participating schools at no cost.

Below is the fee schedule for the next three cycles:

    • 2022-2023 Cycle: $175 base, $55 incremental (no change)
    • 2023-2024 Cycle: $175 base, $60 incremental
    • 2024-2025 Cycle: $180 base, $60 incremental

AACP is announcing the approved fee increases now so schools can prepare. The AACP Board of Directors has not made any decisions regarding the fees for the 2025-2026 cycle or beyond. As a reminder, there is no cost for member institutions that participate in PharmCAS or AACP's other centralized application services (PharmGrad and PharmDirect). Schools may still opt to use coupon codes to cover the base or incremental fees for applicants in the current and future cycles.

Background: AACP has continued to invest in PharmCAS without passing on any of the related expenses onto applicants or member schools over the past 5 years. Below are a few examples:

    • Increased the AACP PharmCAS fee waiver fund from $80,000 to $100,000 during the current 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 cycles to offset the financial impact of the pandemic on financially disadvantaged applicants.
    • Launched a fee waiver program for financially disadvantaged applicants who completed the PharmCAS criminal background check process via Certiphi.
    • Launched a new PharmCAS website and directory to enhance the applicant experience.
    • Arranged for the Liaison by Analytics tool to be made available to all participating schools without passing on the licensing fees to schools or applicants. Refer to this Connect post for information on accessing Analytics by Liaison.
    • Negotiated with Liaison to include the value-added service of transcript verification and GPA calculations to the Spring Academic Update at no cost.
    • Added a new priority (preferred) deadline feature for schools in the 2021-2022 cycle to offset the impact of the removal of early decision.
