Philip M. Hritcko, Pharm.D., CACP, RPh.
Dr. Philip M. Hritcko received his B.S. and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Albany College of Pharmacy of Union University in Albany New York. He is currently Associate Dean for Admissions & Student Affairs and Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the UConn School of Pharmacy. In his current role, Dr. Hritcko is responsible for all student affairs activities and services, including recruitment programs, administration of the admissions and progression processes, maintenance of student records, academic advising and career pathway counseling, and advising Pharmacy Student Government and student organizations.
Dr. Hritcko is both regionally and nationally recognized for his work in the area of experiential education. Dr. Hritcko is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) where he was Speaker of the House of Delegates from 2013-15. He is also an AACP Fellow and participated in the 2008-2009 AACP Academic Leadership Fellows Program (ALFP) and is a past Chair of the AACP Experiential Education Section. In addition, Dr. Hritcko has been an active member of the Connecticut Pharmacists Association (CPA) as a board member for several years and is a past President for CPA.
Dr. Hritcko is on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA) and the Journal of Pharmacy Practice (JPP). He is also active with the New England Regional Departments of Experiential Education (NERDEE) consortium which is a collaboration of all the New England schools/colleges of pharmacy
In addition to his responsibilities at the UConn School of Pharmacy, Dr. Hritcko has practiced as a consultant clinical pharmacist at the William W. Backus Hospital Anticoagulation Clinic located in Norwich Connecticut from 2004-2015. He is a Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider (CACP) since May 2001. Dr. Hritcko has extensive experience with their ambulatory anticoagulation service managing patient’s anticoagulation therapy.
Prior to joining the UConn School of Pharmacy, Dr. Hritcko was a clinical pharmacy specialist in Ambulatory Care at the Veterans Affairs Connecticut (VACT) Health care System. He was largely responsible for VACT’s Anticoagulation Clinic and the management of their patients on warfarin and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) therapy. Dr. Hritcko also has extensive experience prior to VACT as a community pharmacist practicing throughout Upstate New York and Connecticut. Dr. Hritcko has over 20 years’ experience in community pharmacy prior to joining the VA Connecticut Health care System. Dr. Hritcko has practiced as a community pharmacist, pharmacy manager and district pharmacy supervisor for CVS/Pharmacy throughout New York and Connecticut.
