A patient case with the conventional content will be presented – demographics (age, race/ethnicity, sex), medical history, current diagnosis and relevant clinical values. A treatment plan will be proposed based on the available information. Then using a step wise approach, cultural and contextual elements (historical, social determinants, etc.) will be overlaid on the patient case. With each additional piece of information, treatment plan will be modified and/or augmented to reflect more patient-centered and culturally-responsive care.
- Demonstrate the added value of integrating cultural and contextual elements into clinical patient cases; and
- Increase cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity of participants by exposure to information not typically captured by conventional patient cases used in pharmacy education.
