    COOPERATIVE ADMISSIONS GUIDELINES
Some pharmacy schools voluntarily participate in the AACP Cooperative Admissions Guidelines (CAG), also known as admissions traffic rules. The guidelines for applicants are below. Applicants who are accepted to a Pharm.D. program and decide not to enroll for any reason are instructed to immediately notify the school of their decision, regardless of the school's CAG participation status.

    After March 1:

    • Applicants may hold only one acceptance. Schools and colleges may choose to rescind their offers to applicants holding multiple acceptances.
    • Schools and colleges may require a second deposit, and will set the dollar value, if applicable. Applicants may consider additional admission offers after March 1 but may still only hold one acceptance.

SUBMIT INITIAL DECISION CODES BY MARCH 1
All PharmCAS institutions, regardless of CAG status, are expected to enter Offer Made and Offer Accepted decision codes to date on a regular basis and by no later than March 1, so that the "Competing Offers Made" and "Competing Offers Accepted" reports in WebAdMIT reflect current and accurate data. WebAdMIT Support can assist with bulk code changes, as needed. PharmCAS does not display decision codes to applicants. Below are definitions for select codes. Please refer to the PharmCAS School Manual to learn more.

    • Offer Made: Institution made an offer of admission to the applicant.
    • Offer Accepted: Applicant accepted offer of admission. (Typically, the applicant has paid a deposit.)
    • Matriculated: Accepted applicant started classes in the professional program. Do not use this code if an applicant has only accepted an offer of admission, participated in a new student orientation, or registered for classes.

While strongly encouraged, not all colleges and schools may enter decision codes in WebAdMIT by March 1 or on a consistent basis for a variety of reasons. Therefore, the "Competing Offers Made" and "Competing Offers Accepted" reports may not always reflect up-to-date information for reasons beyond an applicant's control. Final decision codes for the 2020-2021 cycle are due by September 30.

Would it be possible for PharmCAS to send this guideline to all those who currently have multiple seat deposits?  We have several and I have contacted them but I get the response that "I am still deciding".   I'm not quite sure they know of the March 1st decision date.

    Hi Jean,

Yes, Verified PharmCAS applicants will also be notified today. The following message is scheduled to go out at 12:00 p.m. ET:

If you are accepted to a Pharm.D. program, carefully review the admission traffic rules for pharmacy, known as the Cooperative Admissions Guidelines (CAG). Some, but not all, schools participate in the CAG. Visit the PharmCAS School Directory to view CAG status for your designated pharmacy schools.

If you are accepted to a CAG participating school:
      • You may only hold a single acceptance after March 1.
      • If you have received 2+ acceptances, contact your CAG participating schools by March 1 to accept or reject the offers of admission.
      • If you are still waiting to hear from other schools or need more time to make a decision, contact the CAG participating schools directly about your situation, so they can consider how best to assist you.
      • You can still apply and be accepted to additional pharmacy schools after March 1, regardless of your acceptance status.
      • If you previously accepted an offer to one school and decide after March 1 to accept an offer from a different school, notify the first school before you accept the new offer.

    Non-CAG Schools:
If you no longer wish to be considered for admission to a non-CAG school for any reason, you are strongly encouraged to immediately notify the school, regardless of the date.

Questions? View the list of frequently asked questions (FAQ). If you have other CAG questions, contact Pharm4Me@aacp.org or your selected pharmacy schools. Send all other PharmCAS questions to info@pharmcas.org.

Additionally, a social media post (Instagram/Twitter/Facebook) will be going live tomorrow (2/24) at 1 p.m. ET and there will be an additional Tweet and Instagram/Facebook story reminder on Sunday, 2/28.

    Thanks!
