    CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR CHAMPIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

     HOW TO VOLUNTEER: If you wish to volunteer to serve on the Champions Advisory Committee, please email Rosie Walker (rwalker@aacp.org) by August 3, 2018 with a brief paragraph indicating why you wish to serve and attach your resume.  

     ROLE: The purpose of the Champions Advisory Committee, is to promote the pharmacy profession. The vision of the Champions committee is that prospective students, educators, advisers, and communities understand and appreciate contemporary pharmacy education and career opportunities. The expected outcome is an increase to the number of qualified applicants who apply to pharmacy school. All AACP members who are interested in marketing, outreach, and student recruitment are invited to join this Community.

     RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    1. Serve as a collaborate body to provide guidance and develop new initiatives to promote pharmacy education and careers.
    2. Promote pharmacy to health education programs, prospective students, health profession advisors, and other related organizations.
    3. Evaluate the performance of current and proposed efforts and initiatives.
    4. Serve as advocate between AACP and member institutions to encourage collaborative participation.
    5. Recommend and review changes to toolkits, guides, services.

     TERMS: Terms begin on September 1 and expire on June 30, length of term will be 3 years. 

     STAKEHOLDERS: The Champions Advisory Committee will form a work group for a total of 5 representatives. The list of stakeholders may change in the future based on the needs of the committee. 

    • Faculty (1-2 stakeholders represented)
    • Admissions Staff (1-2 stakeholders represented)
    • Program Director
    • Staff

     MEETINGS: The Champions Advisory Committee is tentatively scheduled to participate in 1-hour standing monthly conference calls during the year.

     ELIGIBILITY: The Champions Advisory Committee is open to all AACP members.  Members should understand or participate in the local recruitment process for PharmD programs.  Volunteers who are pharmacists, faculty, staff or PharmD students must be members of AACP.  No more than one representative from an institution can serve at the same time.  

     SELECTION PROCESS: AACP staff strives to identify a diverse and balanced work group relative to program type, geographic location, demographics, and expertise.  Preference is given to individuals who represent programs that have not been previously represented. The following factors will be considered in the selection process:

    • Geographic Region
    • Type of Institution: Public versus Private    
    • Size of Program    
    • Admissions and PharmCAS Experience  
    • Gender   
    • Race and Ethnicity
