RE: PharmCAS Volume Update - Mar 2019

Attached are the latest PharmCAS volume and colleges attended data for the current 2018-2019 cycle to date. While the percentage of applicants with In-progress status has increased by 9.7%, PharmCAS applicants with Verified status have decreased by 4.7% and applications (designations) have decreased by 20.7% as compared to the same point in time last year. Applicants are applying to fewer institutions on average: 2.68 versus 3.12. As a result, the mean number of applications per program has also decreased: 286.9 in March 2019 versus 389.2 in March 2018.  Anecdotally, yield rates have increased for some colleges and schools as applicant behavior has shifted.

There are currently 90 institutions in PharmCAS with pending application deadlines. As a result, additional volume is expected before the end of the cycle in June. AACP will continue its communication campaign in efforts to reduce application abandonment rates.

Related admissions and student affairs updates were provided to attendees during the recent AACP Interim Meeting and are attached for your convenience.

Please continue to frequently update your admission decisions in WebAdMIT and contact staff directly, if questions. Thank you!
