Below and attached are the latest volume updates for the current 2020-2021 admissions cycle.

    EARLY DECISION VOLUME
A total of 1,876 applicants chose to apply via Early Decision (ED) in the current 2020-2021 cycle, representing a 41% decrease as compared to the ED pool last year. There were an additional 433 applicants who applied via ED and were automatically returned to the regular pool because their applications were not yet complete by the September 8 deadline. The decline in volume reflects a corresponding decrease in the number of participating schools from 118 in 2019 to 86 in 2020 as this feature is phased out. Early Decision will no longer be available in PharmCAS beginning in the 2021-2022 admissions cycle for applicants applying for fall 2022 enrollment. View the attachment for ED trend data.

    2020-2021 OVERALL VOLUME TO DATE
Attached is the latest PharmCAS applicant volume report as of September 11 versus the same time last year. The total number of applicants has declined by 18.5%, while applications have declined by 4.0%. The mean number of applications per applicant has increased to date: 1.55 in 2020 versus 1.31 in 2019. It is too soon to determine whether current trends will persist. With fewer schools participating in Early Decision this year and more schools moving to spring deadlines, applicants may be more likely to apply later in the cycle. Aggregate applicant data by state of residence and primary college attended are also included. More detailed tables on the number of applications by geographic region and program type will resume in October.

    2019-2020 (PREVIOUS) CYCLE
The 2019-2020 PharmCAS Applicant Data Report (PDF) will be released by November 2020, once all final admission decisions are received from participating schools. Please remember to submit all final decision codes for verified applicants the 2019-2020 cycle by September 30, if not already done. Thank you!

Correction to the Early Decision update on Friday:

The number of schools participating in Early Decision this year was 86 (rather than 59, as previously reported). The corrected report is now available via the PharmCAS Connect library. We apologize for the error and confusion. The number of Early Decision applicants remains unchanged at 1,876.
