RE: PHARMCAS VOLUME UPDATE – SEPT 2018Below are volume updates for the current 2018-2019 admissions cycle. Final national data for the full and accepted pool in the 2017-2018 cycle will be available as part of a new PharmCAS Applicant Data Report (PDF) in mid-October 2018, once all final admission decisions are received from participating colleges and schools. Please remember to submit all decision codes for the 2017-2018 cycle by September 30, if not already done. Thank you!
EARLY DECISION A total of
2851 applicants chose to apply as Early Decision in the current 2018-2019 cycle, representing an
18.4% increase as compared to the ED pool last year. There were an additional 821 applicants who applied via Early Decision, but were automatically returned to the regular pool because their applications became Complete after the September 4 deadline. Early decision applicants are given priority in the verification queue. Applications for all ED applicants should be verified by the end of this week, unless the verification team identifies a problem with a particular file.
OVERALL VOLUMEBelow is PharmCAS applicant volume by status as of September 10 versus the same time last year. The increase in the percentage of verified applicants corresponds with the increase in the Early Decision pool. Submitted application (designation) data trends and more detailed volume reports will begin in early October.
CURRENT PROCESSING TIMESBelow are current verification processing times for newly completed applicants. The update provides a snapshot of the verification queue as of today (9/10/18) and does not reflect mail processing and scanning times, which are typically 3 business days at this point in the cycle.
- Current complete applicants awaiting verification: 632 (vs 989 last year)
- Date of completed applications team is currently verifying: 9/3/18 (vs 9/1/17 in the last cycle)
- Business days from completion to verification: 4 Days (vs 6 days last year)
